Gardening is a healthy hobby which refreshes one’s mind and soul. Having a personal garden is very trendy these days. Growing your own vegetables and fruits provides a personal satisfaction of eating and living healthy.

However, gardening requires some tips and tricks.

Basics you need to know:

Before jumping to the basic ideas for this task, we need to know some basics. Although gardening is very healthy and refreshing activity but it isn’t as easy as you think it is. There’s a little amount of pixie dust you need to sprinkle on yourself to keep a garden.

Firstly, you have to make up your mind about keeping a garden as requires a little hard work and a good amount of consistency and responsibility.

Secondly, you need to have some essential gardening tools such as:

· Spade;

· Shovel;

· Rake;

· Gardening gloves;

· Hoe.

And at last you need to know the quality of soil you are growing your plants in. Every area has its own specific soil texture and properties and it may be possible that the plants you might want to grow in the garden are not suitable for the area you are living in.

Here are some amazing gardening tips that can help you grow and maintain your garden effectively.

1) Small Starter Ups:

As you are just beginning to plant, it is recommended to choose small plants that are easy to grow and taking care of. Small plants such as pansies, sunflowers, tomatoes and mint etc. take up small space plus they don’t take much time to grow. Taking care of small plants at the start will help you get prepared for growing the bigger ones.

2) Have a Proper Scheme:

Now this is an important thing you need to keep track of while keeping a garden. Having a proper scheme means to know what type of plants you are planting in your garden. You need to know what their basic needs are and what they require to grow healthy.

Also, you need to oversee the appearance of the plant once it grows up. The benefit is you will know whether your plant is having a normal or an abnormal growth.

Moreover, you should know about the seasonal plants i.e. what plant grows in which season and when the season and plant expires.

3) Record in a Logbook:

This is an optional but an impressive and a beneficial habit of keeping a logbook or a journal of your garden to keep track of your garden activities. If you do not have knowledge of the suitability or relation of your plant with the soil, you can easily write it down with the experience whether anyone of the plants suits your soil or not.

It can also be used to list the interesting plants and you can use it as a reminder to include them in your garden in the future.

4) Beware of Weeds:

As Ralph Waldo Emerson stated, ““What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered.”

Do not ignore the weeds that grow in your garden. They can be harmful for the plants on which you have put all your effort and time. Weeds can give tough competition to the other plants that you grow as they take up space and absorb nutrients from the soil leaving a little for the other plants. In short, keep your garden weed free.

5) Adequate Amount of Water:

Make sure to provide adequate amount of water to your plants. Know what type of plant needs which sufficient quantity of water in a specific season. Each plant requires different amount of water. You cannot provide equal amount of water to every plant in your garden. It may lead to wilting and withering.

6) Add Fertilizers:

Natural fertilizers are good treat for your plants. They provide vital nutrients to your plants which increases plant yield and improves soil texture.

Adding natural fertilizers can also aid to increase water holding capacity of the soil.

7) Have Patience:

Last but not the least; patience is the key to success. Building up enough patience can be fruitful for you as well as your plants. Plants do need time to grow and sometimes it may take a sapling few months or even a year to maintain itself and be stable enough to grow itself into a mature plant.
